How We Met
(This is going to be from my P.O.V because Ruqayyah insisted that I write it)
I was just going through my TL on Twitter when I saw a tweet from someone whose handle I’d never seen before saying that she’d love to read a northerner’s account of the Nigerian Civil War. That got me interested because I was actually trying to find out what happened in the north at that time from a northerner’s point of view too. I’ve read some accounts of the war from other people and I was thinking that it was incomplete. Because there are always two sides to a story right?
So Ruqayyah and I got talking on the TL about the problem we’re facing in the north and how we need loud voices to speak for us. Because there are actually just few accounts of the war from northerners online and we figured that we can change that by making a project out of it and publicizing it. So we moved to the DMs and we were so excited to start this project and we got started.
Initially, we wanted it to be about the Nigerian Civil War only but then we realized that we can make it bigger by posting articles about the history of Northern Nigeria and so here we are now.
(And because I’m so lazy I was excited that Ruqayyah was going to do all the boring work. I realized that she’s really hardworking and ooops she figured it out and now she’s making me write this, I hate her for this! And don’t mind her class, we’re age mates. Ok, not really but she’s not that old I promise)

Ruqayyah Nabage is a 500 level student of Computer Engineering at Bayero University Kano. She is a lover of books (she will read anything but self-help books), art, literature, gummy bears, history, meat and tea in no particular order. Ruqayyah is from Kano State and she wishes she could get paid to read for a living.
Fatima Maishanu is a 100 level student of Medicine at Usman Ɗan-Fodio University Sokoto. She is a poetry enthusiast that is passionate about reading unless it is school related. Fatima is a cooking enthusiast with a love for medieval and renaissance art and architecture. She is from Sokoto State and is a writer that mostly writes in her head.
